Hello on Monday Morning

Dear Friends,

Our Sunday went quite well with some changes in our original plan. Linda, Kyla,
and Max went off to the baby shower. Max was his usual cute self at the baby
shower. He did not fuss once, and he enjoyed all the attention from the 27
people who attended the shower.

While they were doing their thing, Kevin and I did a couple errands, but spent
most of the time searching for the perfect grill. The search started with Kevin
going on line, and reading details, and reviews of every grill which you could
possibly purchase. Well, we ended up with the Cadillac of Grills, the Webber
Genesis. The $100 off sale price was a mere $799. You might go Wow!, this Curley
most have a money tree in the back yard. Not! A decision was made based on
quality of the stainless steel, and the longevity of the grill. Most grills are
designed with a very thin gauge of stainless steel, and parts that rot out after
a couple of years (which is my kind of grill). So do you invest the money right
now for a device that can last at least 10 years, or do you spend $350 every
three years, which is what I do. Kevin made the correct choice!

We called up the Brodeur Lad who has a good size truck, and headed toward New
Hampshire, "The Live Free or Die" State. We saved $100 because they don't have a
sales tax in New Hampshire. We headed to the Home Depot in Salem New Hampshire
to purchase the Webber which was still in the box. We get the grill to Kevin's
place, and Kevin decided to bring in the heavy box into the house, and assemble
it in the kitchen , and bring it through the sliding glass doors onto his above
ground deck.
It took Kevin and I about two hours to assemble the grill. I did have fears that
the assembled grill couldn't fit through the sliding glass doors, and then we
would be stuck with a grill in the middle of their kitchen. I did fit through
the doors quite easily.
We opened the grill, and hit the ignition switch, and the grill lit up. The heat
was even, and instantaneous. Now that we had it going, and everyone was starving
at the time approached 7:00 PM, Kevin wanted to use the grill, and cook supper
on it. Kyla called the Brodeur's, and invited them for a steak dinner with all
the fixings. Kevin asked me to cook the steaks, and I jumped at the chance to do
so. Everything turned out well, and we were all part of the clean plate club.

Kevin, Kyla, and Max will be doing their normal routine today. Kyla will be the
first one leaving the house for work today. Kevin will be taking Max to day care
on his way to his restaurant in East Boston, and Linda and I will be here alone
except for the two cats and two dogs. Today has already been mentally planned by
Linda and I. I am getting a haircut, and mustache trim in their back yard by way
of the skilled hands of Linda. I packed the necessary tools to do the job.
The birds in North Tewksbury will be getting some nesting material on this
Monday.

We are going to do a pot roast crock pot dinner with all the fixings for supper
this evening. We will save some for Kevin since he usually doesn't arrive home
until about 9:30 PM (or a little later). Kyla will be picking Max up on the way
home from work so the rest of us will have supper together.

I must admit that I didn't watch any sports yesterday. Jerry Brodeur told me who
and how the person won the professional golf tournament. The Sox were losing as
we went off grill hunting. I can watch the Boston Bruins in a third playoff game
this evening which makes me happy, but not the women.
The Sox have an 11 AM game on this Patriots' Day which we celebrate in
Massachusetts.

Observation -- Yesterday was one of those days where being surrounded by family
and friends turned a so so day into a great day. It also got me thinking about a
conversation we had the other evening with our Dalton friends while at the
Shamrock Restaurant. Steve told me the story of his conversation with a baby
boomer while he was at his golf course the other day. This baby boomer is a
retired fireman in Pittsfield, maybe a year or two older than I am. The guys
tells my Dalton friend that he has liver cancer, and the cancer has started to
spread to other parts of his body. Here is guy, who looks no different than any
of us baby boomers, but he pretty much has a death sentence. This person didn't
do anything in his life to abuse his body. Like I always say "Life is a crap
shoot." Some people are just dealt with an awful hand of cards. The guy's family
is crushed, but this guy is trying to live a normal life until his time is up.
This is another case which should send all of us a message to not sweat the
little stuff, and surround yourself with family and friends until the day you
die!

On a happier note, I want everyone to enjoy this week at work or play.
If all your body parts are working and you have relatively good health, count
your lucky stars.
Yes, I know you have heard these words of wisdom from the Curley Lad before, but
the teacher in me says that a little repetition is okay to help you remember
these words.

Have a great Monday.
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
