Dear Friends,
We pretty much had the Monday which Linda wanted the day after Super Bowl Sunday. I only drove her crazy a couple of times during the day.
The first time was when I left the house in pursuit of my missing drivers’ license. I remember taking the license out of my wallet at local grocery to show an I.D. to purchase alcoholic beverages for our Super Bowl Party. I remember stuffing the card in a pocket of my cargo pants, and not in my wallet. When were out on the multiple days partying until midnight, I also remember stuffing bills in and out of my pockets after receiving change from a beverage purchases. I checked all over the house and car as well as in coats and jackets and sweatshirts that I was wearing. I checked my laundry basket too, but I never found the license. I went off to check to see if anyone turned in the license at the various places that I went to since the first grocery store, but I came up empty. I finally ended up at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and purchased a duplicate license. This little mistake was a $25 dollar one. Linda chastised me for not having patience when I purchase items at any store to take the time to return such items like a debit card, license, etc., back into my wallet before walking away! Oh Darn!
The second item was when I hauled a box of empty bottles and cans left over from our party from my Man Cave to the garage. I left a trail of sticky spots of liquids from the furnace room in my man cave, across the floor in the Man Cave which I had just washed with the wet swiffer, up the carpeted stairs, and across the first floor to the garage. Linda thinks that I do these things just to drive her crazy, but I guess that it comes down to me doing things without thinking. This is not a new revelation!
Observation – I notice that there is quite a difference when Linda washes her clothes (which she did on Monday), and when I wash mine, Her clothes come out so good, it looks like she ironed them. Her delicates she hangs on a clothes rack. When I wash my clothes, they come out wrinkled just as much as when I took them from the laundry basket. I try putting my non dryer clothes on the drying rack, but they still come out wrinkled. Once again, I don’t have the patience to calmly play with the clothes before I put them on the drying rack. I wonder if there was some way that I could talk Linda into washing my clothes too. Maybe I will try and be a little more patient when I wash a couple of loads of my clothes today.
I will not be watching the New York Giant Super Bowl Parade down the streets of Manhattan today.
As a matter of fact, I watched no Blah, Blah, Blah, sports’ programs at all on Monday.
One of the Boston teams are playing this evening so I won’t have to hear replays of the Patriots’ failure of winning the Super Bowl for a second time against the New York Giants.
Our next door neighbor middle school girl rang our doorbell after she got out of school on Monday to pick up the cash from the Curley Super Bowl football pool. The $34 dollars which she won made her one happy girl!
Linda is off to her normal Tuesday session of Mah Jongg today. I have to return a whole bunch of empty bottles and cans at the grocery store where my license fiasco first happened.
Linda also left me instructions of setting up the ingredients of beef stroganoff supper. The beef with all the necessary spices will be cooked in the crock pot, and the noodles will be prepared just before we are ready to eat.
World News and Politics – It was kind of clam on the news front today when I skimmed CNN on line.
On the local scene, a bunch of young adults are finally getting their day in court. They knocked over 200 grave stones (many from the 1800’s), and pulled up American flags in the Pittsfield cemetery last Spring. They will be getting jail time, and then have to get jobs to pay back costs associated with repairing the stones.
I did see where a small town in Pennsylvania is claiming that the process of Fracking to get at natural gas supplies has caused pollution in their water supply system. Besides putting up Wind Mills in Berkshire County which I am against, I don’t believe that Fracking is an environmentally safe way of getting natural gas from the ground. The companies who do the Fracking claim that the process is a safe one. Yeah Right!
Super Bowl Commercials – There was only a couple that Linda and I really liked. I don’t understand how and why companies can pay advertising firms to create these elaborate television commercials, and we as the consumers can’t figure out what product that they are selling. I like it when the average person(s) create the advertisement, and their commercials become a winner. Maybe these companies should have contests where all the commercials are created by average people. We have such a large number of creative people out there who could do a much better job at coming up with Super Bowl Commercials. These companies would save a great deal of money if they used the great ideas of these creative individuals.
Well, I have to do some quiet activities, and some chopping and dicing before I head out the door to return the bottles and cans. I also have to get back to studying my ServSafe Manual. I spent and hour or so yesterday, but I will need to spend a lot more hours studying before the test next Tuesday.
Have a great Tuesday!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad

Hello on Monday
Dear Friends,
I want to congratulate the New York Giants, and all of the fans of the New York Giants.
I have no desire to read any newspapers today because we all know that the front page will have a picture of the Super Bowl Champs right on the front cover. Oh Darn!
We Patriot Fans will have to suffer through another period of mourning for a few months, but we will all get over it.
All New England Patriot gear will be heavily discounted. I have already put away a Super Bowl flag that I had hanging from the outside of our house.
There will be no Patriot Parade on the streets of downtown Boston!
I couldn’t bear to watch the post game show so I switched channels when the game ended.
On a positive note, our house party went well. There were less people who attended our event this year, but a good time was had by all. Clean up went quickly after the game was over. Any left over food products were put in containers, and then into the refrigerator by 10:30 PM. I headed off to bed, and Linda stayed up to watch the non football programs after the Super Bowl.
I have three things to do in the basement today; Wet Swiffer the laminated wood floor and vacuum the carpet portion of the room, and put away some beverages from coolers back into the garage.
Also, on another positive note, being a grandparent for the fourth time, which happened this week, is better than any Super Bowl Game.
A middle school neighbor, Jillian Cote, won the Curley football pool. I see an envelope sitting on our kitchen table with her name on it.
Social Calendar -- Linda told me to not to talk to her, or ask her any questions. She pretty much wants me to be invisible. This will be a difficult task for me.
I did visit Dad at the nursing home on Sunday. He wants to check himself out of the nursing home, but the physical therapist doesn’t think that dad is ready to go back home. We might have a family meeting during the mid morning today to see what we can do. Oh Darn!
I did see a former colleague from the guidance department at the high school which I taught at while I was visiting dad at the nursing home. The conversation was so stimulating that the guy fell asleep in his wheel chair as I was talking to him.
CNN News --I saw where over 500 people on two cruise ships got sickened by the Norovirus which is one of the food borne illnesses that we have to know when we take the ServSafe recertification test next week.
Politics – The state caucuses continue for the Republican candidates. I think that my Republican friend, who I chatted with a couple of weeks ago, might be correct when he said that it will be Romney and the New Jersey Governor Cristie as his running mate when the Presidential election takes place.
Ice-Fishing – I do want to go fishing at some point this week, but I am nervous about the ice. They already changed some Ice Fishing Derbies from the first part of the month to the end of the month hoping that the ice would be thicker than it is right now. We have a local Jimmy Fund Derby this weekend, and I think that the organizers are a little nervous about the ice. One of the party goers is a member of the Jimmy Fund board. She said that there is a meeting tonight, and that some decisions have to be made.
The temperatures today are supposed to reach the mid forties today, What ever freezing took place over night, will turn into some melting during the day. Also, there is no snow cover on the ponds around here, and I have no desire to slip, slide, and possibly fall on the ice.
I am supposed to be participating in a derby in New Hampshire on February 18, 2012. I might want to skip the derby and go on the Polish Falcon Casino trip instead.
Well, I am going to grab another cup of coffee, and read the local newspaper, but skip the Sports’ section. My sister is going to call me on my cell a little after 9 AM to see if the family meeting at the nursing home is a go.
Have a great week at work or play!

Hello on Super Bowl Sunday
Dear Friends,
We (mostly Linda) did a lot of prep work on Saturday for today’s Super Bowl Party. We should be all set for the guests to arrive at our house this afternoon. We asked the guests to arrive starting at 4 PM.
This will be another day of food, fun, and merriment just like it was on Friday and Saturday night.
Linda was still working when I went off for an afternoon nap on Saturday. She had just about enough time to get dressed before we headed out to have dinner with another couple at Applebees. Both couples participated in the 2 for $20 offer. There was a slight problem, but not pertaining to the quality of the food which we ordered. The other couple got their dinner before ours. We waited, and waited, and the other couple ate and ate their dinner. Of course, we called over our server, talked to the manager, before we got the food delivered. The waiter, and the manager complained about computer problems when they chatted with us. They said that our order got lost in Cyber Space. Yeah Right! They offered no discount for this error.
We also had the problem of the restaurant bringing out the main meal before the appetizers were consumed. At almost every restaurant that we go to, except the ones where the meals cost a fortune, we have to remind them to let us finish the appetizers, or salads before they bring out the main meal. Good thing that we met for dinner early just in case you encounter a problem like we did.
After Applebees, we headed off to the Liam Geddes Concert at the Barrington Stage which was spectacular. The crowd wasn’t as large as they had hoped for, but the various musicians did award winning singing including the headliner, Liam Geddes. Liam is heading back to Ballina, Ireland on Monday because he is a participant in an Irish event just like the one that we have here in the United States called the “Voice.” Liam is another one of our friends and / or relatives who have great futures in whatever direction that they are heading in.
Tidbit- The couple that we went to Applebees with also sat next to us at the concert. The female won the 50/50 raffle. She bought her raffle tickets right before I purchased ours.
We left the concert, and headed off to another party at which there was more food, fun, and merriment. We once again arrived home near midnight, but the party was still going on as we exited our friend’s Man Cave.
We have another day of food, fun, and merriment scheduled for today. Linda and I are looking forwards to our day of rest on Monday. We found out that the Catholic Schools in Pittsfield and I think all of them in the County have closed their schools on the Monday after the Super Bowl. Could this be the start of a National trend to make Super Bowl Sunday, and Monday especially, a National Holiday?
The Nation and Global affairs – I think that we are getting ready for another Middle East conflict. Which country is your guess? Syria is looking kind of messy, and Iran is always a threat. Israel and the Palestinians aren’t the best of friends. Iran is ready to start something. We have some Navy ships in that part of the world just in case one of these countries needs our help. I sensed this when we visited our military son and his family in Southern Georgia in late October. There seemed to be a sense of urgency in what he and his fellow pilots were doing at their base. In my mind, they were sharpening their skills in preparation for another conflict somewhere on this earth. Oh Darn!
We definitely don’t need more of our men and women in the military wounded or killed to oust some tyrannical leader.
On a happier note, today is Super Bowl Sunday. Millions of people across the nation will be partying just like the Curley’s will be. Both of our sons are hosting parties. Our military son is hosting a party of around 30 people, but the weather in Valdosta will be 81 degrees. His party might be a pool party, and he / they might be doing more grilling than us in the Berkshires. One thing that Danielle and Michael do well is make the dough for pizza, and cook the thin crusted pizza on their gas grill. As the host, you let your guests put what ingredients they prefer on the Pizza, and my son will cook it for you. Like I said in previous emails, Linda and I taught our two boys well with respect to being able to cook and host a party of any size. All of the Curley parties today have at least 25 people coming to each party.
The parties that our sons are having will have more children at them.
We lost some of the usual suspects who normally attend our party, but we picked up a few more while partying over the past few days.
It is nice to have a party where the guests don’t have to slide down our driveway like they did last year. We had the fear that some of guests last year would fall on our icy down hill driveway (which I did salt to no avail). I was most worried about our disabled Vietnam Vet friend who walks with a cane.
I wish that more people would park in our driveway which could fit almost 8 cars. Our neighbors, the Cotes, also said that it was okay to park in their driveway because they will be attending our party too. They live in the house just before the Curley hacienda as you head south on Winesap.
The players and all the people in the nation can’t wait for the kick off and the game in general, and to see all of the Super Bowl commercials. We are all tired of all the hype which has taken place over the past two weeks.
Liam Geddes came out with a Wes Welker football shirt after intermission. He was booed by a couple of Giant fans, one of who will be at our party today. This friend and I have been going at one another at every event which we seem to both be at. I told my friend that if he is thinking that this Super Bowl will repeat of the Giants vs Patriots match up of 2007 that he is dreaming. The betters across the nation are putting their money on the Giants, but we Patriots fans keep telling them not to waste their money. Go Patriots!
Well, I am going to skim the Sunday newspapers, go off and visit dad and bring him his favorite newspaper, make a stop at a grocery store for a couple of items, and relax until our guests arrive. I might even weave in an early afternoon nap.
Linda and I hope that all of you have a great Super Bowl Sunday whether you have a quite or rowdy party.
A few years ago, I decided to skip having a party, and watch the Super Bowl alone. That decision was one of the worst decisions of my life. Super Bowl Sunday is a party day where you should surround yourself with a house full of people.
Have a great day!

Hello on Saturday
Dear Friends,
There is no place like home!
We left Kevin, Kyla, Max, and his sister Piper Lee around 10:30 AM on Friday, but we didn’t go directly home when we got back to Pittsfield. Linda made a decision to do any Super Bowl shopping on Friday instead of today. She said that she didn’t want to face the huge crowds that will be in every grocery store in Pittsfield today. She didn’t have her grocery list with her, but she did pretty well without it.
We had about an hour to unpack the car, put away the groceries, check the mail, and freshened up before we headed out the door at 5 PM. We went off to the Shamrock Restaurant and Pub, and hung out with the Friday night bar flys until 8 PM. After several hours of food, fun, and merriment and playing KENO, we went off to a birthday party at Lach’s Lounge in downtown Pittsfield. The birthday party was for one of our Irish Sister City female friends. She reached the age of 59, but she is a young looking 59 year old person. We had more food, fun, and merriment at Lach’s Lounge before Linda decided to drive me home. I remember my head hitting the pillow around midnight.
Lach’s Lounge is an amazing place where you can find every ethnic group that you can think of. The place is managed by an African American man who has a heart of gold. They had a D.J. last night with a white guy keeping an eye on the back door, and a huge African American guy taking care of the front door. Many bars in town have problems with fights, etc., but not this one. About half way through the party, in walk’s several of my former African American students. As soon as they saw me they yelled “Mr. Curley’! After we did the usual “Hello’s”, they had me up dancing. At one point, they asked me if they could take a picture of me with them in the picture. They asked if they could post the picture over the internet. I am somewhere in cyber space at this very moment. Linda played some kind of electronic bowling device with a large group of people as I was socializing with most of the people in the place.
I can’t spend a lot of time babbling on my daily blog this morning. Linda left a list on the counter of Super Bowl related items for me to do. I have to take a nap today because we have another busy evening coming up. We are going to supper with another couple at 5 PM to start our evening activities. We then head off to the Liam Geddes’ Concert at the Barrington Stage which starts at 7 PM. The evening doesn’t end after the concert because we are heading off to a house party right after the concert.
Super Bowl Sunday is pretty much set at least mentally for Linda and me. Of course, we met some friends last night who said that they had no where to go on Super Bowl Sunday so we said that they might as well come to our house. The last head count for the Curley Super Bowl party was somewhere around 25 people, and the list was still growing. My Man Cave will be rocking on Super Bowl Sunday.
I just checked the Curley Social Calendar for Monday, and we have absolutely nothing booked in. Most of our employed friends and me agree that the day after Super Bowl Sunday should be a National Holiday. We know that many of our Super Bowl guests will leave a little after half time because they have to report to work on Monday morning. I can’t imagine that I made it through the Monday after the Super Bowl for 36 years. It is nice to know that Linda and I could stay in our sleepwear all day long on Monday.
Well, I have to get to work on the 6 item plus list that Linda made for me.
Have a great weekend!

Hello on Friday Morning
Dear Friends,
I am starting this e-mail at one of those ungodly early morning hours because I went to be too early.
It was kind of fun crazy for several hours after Kevin, Kyla, Max and Piper all arrived home. I haven't had a nap since Monday afternoon so I decided to weave one in before the Curley's all came home. The family stopped at Day Care and decided to pick up Max early. When they arrived home, they told two year old Max to go wake up Papa. Max climbed up the stairs, and went into the guest bedroom, and woke me up. He needed a playmate because he sensed that his sister was getting little more attention than he normally receives.
About 4 PM, one of Kyla's best friends from college arrives with her three year old, and Max had now his own playmate. Well, putting two boys together with a whole bunch of toys, electronic gadgets, etc. turned into one hectic afternoon / evening. Instead of spending a few calm hours after arriving home from the hospital, the parents acted like referees in a sporting contest. I guess that I forgot what it is like to be a parent when our children were that young.
Her friend, Erin, brought supper which was a family sized Chicken Pot pie. This Chicken Pot pie wonderful. A little Mom and Pop operation grew into a major manufacturer of the epicurean delight. They grew so large with multiple stores and they even have a store in Tewksbury. The Curley's have decided that we are going to have a Chicken Pot in our freezer at home all of the time. just in case we have an impromptu party at our house.
If you are no a fan of Chicken Pot Pies because you often can't find any chicken in the product, you would be amazed at this brand of Chicken Pot Pies. Some of the pieces of white Chicken meat are so large that you need a fork and and knife to cut the pieces up.
After everyone wakes up, and Kevin makes us breakfast, I will load up the car and we will head back to the Berkshires. We have a lot to do in preparation for the Super Bowl Party on Sunday at our home. We also have a social function to attend tonight and Saturday night. I am not sure if there are enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks which need to be done in preparation for Super Bowl Sunday.
Here in Tewksbury today things should be quiet and calm for Kevin and Kyla and their two children, but I know for a fact that a grocery run has to be made by Kevin or Kyla. They too have to purchase some items for their Super Bowl Party.
I am guessing that the Super Bowl Party in Tewksbury might be a little hectic because many of their 30 somethings friends are bringing their children to the party too. Kevin and Kyla's family room, where all the toys are located, will look like a cyclone passed through it at the end of the party.
The Curley party in Pittsfield will be less hectic for sure!
Curley Super Bowl Party in Pittsfield -- Linda and I finally discussed our food contribution to the Super Bowl Party. Linda is going to make egg salad, and tuna salad finger sandwiches. She is also going to whip up a non vegetarian Chili concoction. I wanted to do a crock pot of my sausage, home made meat ball, onions and peppers, but Linda didn't think that we needed to do so because other people are bringing food too. I know that someone is bringing some Kielbasa. Linda will also be ready to put out chips and dips if needed.
Like I said the other day, world issues are so trivial in the scheme of things when the family is dealing with a new born.
The other day, one of my friends visited my father in the Mount Greylock nursing home. The friend told my father that he has another great grandchild. When my friend told my father that his his great grandchild's name was Piper Lee, my father told my friend that it must be her nick name. Most of us baby boomer friends were named after Saints, or after family members who were also named after saints. Every one of my mother's and father's brother and sister's had saint like names. As you know, I was named after Saint Francis of Assisi (the Saint of animals). Maybe that it why I like to take care of my feathered and furry friends in the winter time.
Sports -- More people are betting that the New York Giants are going to win the Super Bowl. In 2007, the Patriots were favored to win, and look what happened. I can't wait to see the Super Bowl Commercials. The 2.5 million dollar 30 second commercials were sold out months ago. Us fans will be the best judges of those commercials.
Well, I have to grab a second cup of coffee, and continue to make no noise which is extremely difficult for me.
Kevin and Kyla need their sleep to because thay didn't get much while they were in the hospital.
Have a great day and work or play.
Have a great weekend too. The Curley Lad
Go Patriots!
At this point, I am not praising the Giants at all. May the Curse be with you!
I have at least four Giant fans coming to our Party!

Hello on Wednesday
Dear Friends,
Max's sister arrived last evening a little before midnight. The birth went well. Kyla and the 6 lb. 3 oz. , 18 inch long baby are both doing fine. This birth is over two weeks before Kyla's actual due date.
I will have no trouble remembering Piper's birthday because she was born during Media Week preceding the Super Bowl. Being born at the end of a month makes it easy for me to remember too.
It is just Linda, Max, me, the three cats, and two dogs. Kevin slept in the hospital room last evening which is what they do nowadays.
As I was sitting here thinking of what to write, what is happening in the rest of our nation and in the world doesn't seem to be a big deal. The most important thing is that a new person has become part of a very loving family.
Of course, Linda and I have our fourth grandchild to add to the joy in our lives. Linda has another female to do girl stuff with while the boys in Tewksbury and Valdosta, Georgia, and I do our thing.
What else can I say, but "Life is Good". I wish that my mom was still alive to see and enjoy another great grandchild.
The cycle of life continues.
They way hospitals are, Kyla and the baby won't be staying long in the hospital. As the next day or so progresses, we will try and figure out when we could head back to the Berkshires.
It looks like I might not be in the kitchen at the ITAM on Thursday helping to prepare dinner for the NAMI Fundraiser / Dinner Show.
This also means that we will be missing a 21st birthday party for Liam Geddes at Patrick's Pub on Thursday night. As I always say, Family always come first.
Kevin took a picture of his daughter on his I Phone, and I haven't seen her yet. I was sleeping when Linda woke me up and told me of the good news.
Another positive is that a few weeks ago, Kyla said that she had a dream that she was going to have her child on Super Bowl Sunday. I told her don't even think about doing such a thing since the Curley's have a Super Bowl Party that day. Kevin and Kyla are supposed to be having one too. Well, her dream almost came true didn't it?
I did go to bed a happy man on Tuesday night because the Celtics and the Bruins won their non home games.
Linda and I are trying to figure out how and when to go in and see Kevin, Kyla, and the new arrival. We could send Max off to daycare, and drive into Boston for a visit. I would stay here in Tewksbury and take care of Max in his own home, but Linda doesn't like driving on the Boston streets to Brigham and Women's Hospital by herself. Oh Darn!
I am trying to be extremely quiet. Max has been going to bed later, and he will sleep later if the house is quiet. If I even empty the dishwasher, the dish clanging will wake him up. I think Max, like his Nana Linda, has bionic ears. Linda hears my every step as I quietly prance around the house at some ungodly morning hour. Just me opening and closing doors, done quietly, is enough to get her stirring.
Warmth and rain is the forecast for the Tewksbury / Boston area.
Well, I have to grab a second cup of coffee ( even the coffee pod machine is noisy), and read the news on line.
Have a great Wednesday at work or play.
You know where Linda and I are, and what we will be doing for the next day or so.
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
Go Patriots! And Go Giants! ( for our friends who are Giant fans) but I am praying for the Patriots to be the more successful team!

Hello on Thursday
Dear Friends,
Linda and I had a pleasant day on Wednesday. We took Max to Daycare, and headed off to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston to see Piper Lee Curley. I guess I forgot what it was like to pick up this little bundle of joy that seemed so tiny. Kevin was sitting in a chair in the their 8th floor room holding his child when we arrived. Piper was passed around so that Linda and I could hold her. Piper slept most of the time that we were there. She has a full head of hair which is a Curley tradition of going back many generations. Linda thinks that Piper might have some waves or curls which our two boys never had. Kyla thinks that Piper might have Linda's shaped nose. Piper is the size of a baby doll. I can't wait to see Max's reaction when he sees his little sister.
If all goes well today, Kyla, Kevin, and Piper should be coming home from the hospital today. Kyla was doing pretty well yesterday, and moving around like it was just a normal day in her life. She will soon be back to reality when she has two children to take care of.
Max has been easy to take care of. He was so cute the day that we picked him up from Ginny Brodeur's back on Tuesday night. Linda, Max and me were in the family room, when he saw a pair of Kyla's reading glasses on a table. He picks them up and he starts to head upstairs to his parent's bedroom to bring the glasses to his mother. We had difficulty trying to explain that his mother wasn't home, and that she was in the hospital trying to get ready to give birth. He then started asking about his daddy, and we told him that his daddy was with his mommy.
He was again in this cute mode when we picked him up from daycare on Wednesday. He ran to his Papa and his Nana as soon as we arrived at the door of his classroom of his daycare center.
I think that we will stay one more day in Tewksbury before we head back to the Berkshires.
Linda and I have a bunch of stuff to do for our Super Bowl Party. Kevin and Kyla are still having their Super Bowl Party, but Kyla has people bringing food. Their friend's will be coming to the party for sure to check out Piper. Piper will passed around to all the guests. I am pretty sure that one of the couples at the party will be the couple who will be having their first child in March. This couple will getting a preview of coming attractions.
I am trying to be real quiet so that Max and Linda both sleep as late as they can.
I see where the Father of "Soul Train" committed suicide. I want more details about why this guy wanted to put an end to his life while at the tender age of 75.
Politics -- Romney made a little gaff yesterday when he said that "poor people have a safety net" built into the system to help them get through the difficult times. I think he made a true statement, but this came from the mouth of a person who is well off.
During casual conversation while visiting Kyla, Kevin, and Piper, Kyla announced that she might not be voting for President Obama in the upcoming Presidential elections. I think that this Democratic minded woman might be crossing over to the other side. Oh Darn!
These gaffs that politicians make are similar to the ones made by football players during media week leading up to the Super Bowl. I see where one of the New York Giant players got fined $25,000 for not showing up on media day. Media day is not an optional event for players on both teams.
I did get to watch the Celtics do battle. I tried to watch the fourth quarter of the game in bed. As usual, I fell sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. Most of my friend's think that I am crazy to sit there and watch professional basketball on television.
I see where a soccer game in Egypt turned deadly when the fans rioted. People can't even get along during a sporting contest so how can we expect them to be friendly to one another as peaceful nations.
The college student of one of our friends had a scheduled school trip to Egypt, but because the turmoil in these countries the trip had to be cancelled.
Today is a special day for Linda and me. Ground Hogs' day was the day some forty years + ago that it was either for Linda and me to go ice-fishing or to go and pick out an engagement ring. Since the weather was a bit brisk, we ( mostly Linda) decided that ring searching was more important than ice-fishing. Here we some forty years later with four wonderful grandchildren, and Life is Good!
I am in one of those stretches in my life where I am afraid to ask people how they are doing. I saw a friend who would normally be in Florida at this time of the year the other day. I asked him why he wasn't in Florida. He said that he was diagnosed with cancer, and that he has had four Chemotherapy treatments, and he wants to stay local for the treatments. There are so many people out there both young and old who are hurting buckaroos. Right now Linda and I are quite fortunate that our aches and pains are not life threatening. This is why when I am asked, I always say the "Life is Good". Linda and I both know that in a heartbeat we could be one of those hurting buckaroos.
If Kyla, Kevin, and Piper come home today, I think that I will make supper for them. I was thinking of cooking a boneless pork loin in the oven along and a carrot, potato, and onion concoction. I might even grill some asparagus for Kyla which is one of her favorite grilled vegetables. I will cut the pork in medallions and serve with a delicious pork gravy.
For our friends in the Berkshires, I am sorry that I won't be able to be in the kitchen at the ITAM to help my UNICO brothers and sisters prepare the meal for the NAMI fundraiser / dinner show.
For my Irish Friends, you will have to celebrate Liam Geddes' birthday at Patrick's Pub, also this evening, without the Curley's.
There will be many more fundraisers to work, and parties to attend.
Linda and I will see all of you Berkshirites soon.
It is kind of strange not seeing a speck of snow on the ground at this time of the year. It isn't even cold enough to snow. Kevin tried out his new snow blower once this year here in Tewksbury. Maybe Kevin purchasing this snow blower jinxed the snow gods.
Well, I have to grab a second cup of coffee, and read the Berkshire Eagle on line.
