Hello on Monday

Dear Friends,

I want to congratulate the New York Giants, and all of the fans of the New York Giants.

I have no desire to read any newspapers today because we all know that the front page will have a picture of the Super Bowl Champs right on the front cover. Oh Darn!

We Patriot Fans will have to suffer through another period of mourning for a few months, but we will all get over it.

All New England Patriot gear will be heavily discounted. I have already put away a Super Bowl flag that I had hanging from the outside of our house.

There will be no Patriot Parade on the streets of downtown Boston!

I couldn’t bear to watch the post game show so I switched channels when the game ended.

On a positive note, our house party went well. There were less people who attended our event this year, but a good time was had by all. Clean up went quickly after the game was over. Any left over food products were put in containers, and then into the refrigerator by 10:30 PM. I headed off to bed, and Linda stayed up to watch the non football programs after the Super Bowl.

I have three things to do in the basement today; Wet Swiffer the laminated wood floor and vacuum the carpet portion of the room, and put away some beverages from coolers back into the garage.

Also, on another positive note, being a grandparent for the fourth time, which happened this week, is better than any Super Bowl Game.

A middle school neighbor, Jillian Cote, won the Curley football pool. I see an envelope sitting on our kitchen table with her name on it.

Social Calendar -- Linda told me to not to talk to her, or ask her any questions. She pretty much wants me to be invisible. This will be a difficult task for me.

I did visit Dad at the nursing home on Sunday. He wants to check himself out of the nursing home, but the physical therapist doesn’t think that dad is ready to go back home. We might have a family meeting during the mid morning today to see what we can do. Oh Darn!

I did see a former colleague from the guidance department at the high school which I taught at while I was visiting dad at the nursing home. The conversation was so stimulating that the guy fell asleep in his wheel chair as I was talking to him.

CNN News --I saw where over 500 people on two cruise ships got sickened by the Norovirus which is one of the food borne illnesses that we have to know when we take the ServSafe recertification test next week.

Politics – The state caucuses continue for the Republican candidates. I think that my Republican friend, who I chatted with a couple of weeks ago, might be correct when he said that it will be Romney and the New Jersey Governor Cristie as his running mate when the Presidential election takes place.

Ice-Fishing – I do want to go fishing at some point this week, but I am nervous about the ice. They already changed some Ice Fishing Derbies from the first part of the month to the end of the month hoping that the ice would be thicker than it is right now. We have a local Jimmy Fund Derby this weekend, and I think that the organizers are a little nervous about the ice. One of the party goers is a member of the Jimmy Fund board. She said that there is a meeting tonight, and that some decisions have to be made.
The temperatures today are supposed to reach the mid forties today, What ever freezing took place over night, will turn into some melting during the day. Also, there is no snow cover on the ponds around here, and I have no desire to slip, slide, and possibly fall on the ice.
I am supposed to be participating in a derby in New Hampshire on February 18, 2012. I might want to skip the derby and go on the Polish Falcon Casino trip instead.

Well, I am going to grab another cup of coffee, and read the local newspaper, but skip the Sports’ section. My sister is going to call me on my cell a little after 9 AM to see if the family meeting at the nursing home is a go.

Have a great week at work or play!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
