Hello on Friday

Dear Friends,

Some "poor man's fertilizer" did fall overnight, but the amount of snow was less than forecasted.
The track of the storm moved in an "out to sea" direction as opposed to an inland one.
As I look out the sliding glass windows to our deck there is about 3 inches of snow on the railings.
The birds are in a feeding frenzy at all my bird feeders.

The UNICO Celebrity Bar Tending Fundraiser at the Heritage Tavern went very well last evening. We will find out the total profit amounts at our next UNICO board meeting. Whatever funds we have raised goes right back into the community.
Our Charity Board has depleted their budget, and we still have a few months left in our fiscal year so every dollar we can raise will get the Board through this year.

The event itself was a lot of fun. I arrived a little after 5 PM, and hooked up a couple of Irish Sister City Friends. Our table of friends grew as the evening progressed. The bar tending event didn't start until 6 PM, and my shift didn't start until 7:30 PM so that there was a good deal of time for food, fun, and merriment. I sat for a while, but I got up from my seat and worked the crowd like I was running for political office.

At one table, I found out that I was distantly related to a UNICO brother. He read an email of mine when I referred to meeting my second cousin Derek Kresiak at the Brien Center Fundraiser. My UNICO brother is related to Derek's Italian mother. I always seem to find out that we are all interconnected in one way or another. I also found out that Derek is getting married soon.

I also had a chat with a former student of mine who is married to one of the UNICO head chefs when we are preparing those fundraiser dinners. I gave my UNICO friend a loaf of my Irish Soda Bread the other day. His wife said that she really liked the Soda Bread. She gave some slices to some family members, and they enjoyed the Irish Soda Bread too.
She did admit that she bought some at a local supermarket around St. Patrick's Day. She preferred mine over the commercially made ones. I did put some caraway seeds in my latest batch. The caraway seeds go quite well with the Whiskey Soaked raisins.

While watching the news today, the reporter told a story about a inept robber. The dumb thief decides to rob a convenience store. He puts on a mask, and hands the clerk a note. The clerk turned out to be his sister.

It was good to see that the snake which escaped from the Bronx Zoo was captured and returned to his cage. The snake was found in the reptile house holed up in a corner of the room. It is like the boy in the Norman Rock painting who decides to run away from home, but he doesn't get to far.

I chopped and diced the ingredients for a "snow day crock pot beef stew" before heading off to last evening's fund raiser. Linda put it in the crock pot before she went to bed last night. It should be perfect by lunch time.

The VNA nurse just called, and she will be here in 30 minutes to change Linda's bandage.

Of course, Linda asked me how the fundraiser was when I walked in the door last evening. I couldn't lie to her so I told her she missed another fun filled event. I even won $25 playing Keno which eventually went back into the fundraiser.

I also found out that The Irish Sister City Committee bus trip to the Mohegan Sun Casino still has a couple of seats left. The bus trip takes place on Sunday. Normally Linda and I would be on this bus trip, but Linda will be staying home and having her bandage changed while the bus is heading to the Casino.
I could have gone without her, but I have gone to so many places and events without her that the guilt is really starting to get to me.
Also, I can't be left alone in a Casino. I usually start off with a certain amount of money, and I often have to go back to my banker, Linda, to make it through the day. I would be in real trouble without my banker.

Our friends the Culver's did make an appearance just about the time which my shift began. I didn't get a chance to socialize much with them because I was so busy.

Social Calendar for today -- None for either of us, but I did find out some Irish friends are heading to Dalton for a place called the Mill House to listen to the music of one of their favorite non Irish bands called Whiskey City. I could represent the Curley family at this event.

Well, I have to go.
The nurse will be here any minute now.
After the bandage change, I will make Linda breakfast.

Have a great weekend!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
