Hello on Monday

Dear Friends,

The Queen and I had another pleasant day on Sunday. We missed a beautiful day outside as we tried to have some fun at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. We both came home under our set budgets so we won't be able to take any vacations, or do any house renovations. We did hang around with another couple, and within 15 minutes, the husband shows me a voucher that that had $400 on it. Their lucky slot machines are the "Wheel of Fortune"
ones. This couple is smart. They don't gamble all day long. The husband even takes a book, and reads during some down time. His wallet was ended up being over $500 in the positive range.

Politics -- I did see where the national budget crisis is getting close to being resolved. With this news, the Asian stock market today is already heading in a positive direction.

News -- The Norway wacko bought bomb making chemicals over the internet.

Observation -- It is hard to believe that it is August already. I can hear the teachers already thinking about the start of school. They too are asking why their school vacation seems to be flying by. While partying at the Rhode Island beaches last week, a person at the beach and the cookout made the comment about "teachers having the summers off." At least three of my email recipients are teachers. They have been doing school related things for a portion of time this summer. One is taking a college course related to her subject area, another has been at a subject related convention in her field of expertise and do scheduling of her staff and the other one has been working on scheduling, but he has to create this schedule with two less people in his department. Why is that that some people are convinced that the other person has an easier job than the person making comments like this?

Social Calendar -- We have another full week where one or both of us are busy on any given day, and this includes the weekend too. I am the busy one today. I have a 7 AM Physical Therapy appointment, and a 6 PM Golf Committee meeting. Normally, Linda would be playing golf with a few girlfriends this afternoon, but she is still feeling some ill effects from her "Hernia from Hell" surgery back in February.

Sports -- The Red Sox and Yankees both won on Sunday which means the Red Sox still maintain their slim lead over the Yankees.
The Red Sox made some trades over the past few days, but the Yankees decided to stick with the team which they currently have.

As I watched a sports talk show program on Sunday night before I fell asleep, the host of the show was not happy with one of the two people which they the Patriots signed the other day. The host doesn't think that the Haynesworth guy, who they hired to play defense, is going to workout as a Patriot. I say give the player time.

When I made the comments about our military son heading to Afghanistan on Sunday, the English teacher email recipient said that she has a class project of writing to military personnel in war zones. As soon as our son gets an APO mailing address, she wants her students to start sending letters to our son as well as other military people in harms way. This is such a creative way to get students to write and express themselves by the written word. This letter writing will take place when school starts in September.

Well, I have some quiet activities to take care of before heading off to Therapy today.

Have a great week at work or play!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
