Hello on Tuesday

Dear Friends,

It was another pleasant day for us in the Berkshires. Pittsfield missed a thunderstorm, but some towns in the southern part of our county did get some rain.

My therapy session went well except for the fact that the therapist said that I should be wearing the orthopedic boot for most of the day except for when I am sitting on my butt or sleeping. I told the therapist that when my leg starts feeling good, I have not been wearing the boot. He said that I wasn't supposed to be doing that. I told him about the Casino trip, and me feeling good enough that I didn't wear the boot. He said that I should have been wearing the boot. He said that I should be wearing the boot through the month of August. He said that the poor circulation in my legs will make the healing process for me longer than the normal person. Oh Darn!

On a happier note, we are off to a concert at Tanglewood this evening. It is called "Tanglewood on Parade". It is a blend of all kinds of music. The gates open at 2 PM, but the concert doesn't start until 8 PM. Our plan is to arrive a little after 4 PM. It was supposed to be us and one other couple, but our group has been increasing as we have been communicating with the other couple and other sets of friends. Linda is missing another Tuesday Mah Jongg session, but the food, fun, and merriment will make up for her loss.

Politics -- The United States budget is almost a done deal, but most of us want to know all the details when it finally is passed and signed by the President. The public wants to know why it took so long to reach a compromise, but we all know that each party has its interests to protect.
The word is that the Republicans got more of what they wanted than the Democratic Party.

Observation -- While on the Casino bus trip the other day, there was a guy sitting next to another person whom we (mostly me) do know. It took me the whole trip to realize who this person was. This person was the former director of the Girls and Boys Club. I was on a first name basis with the guy over the years, and I felt sad that I didn't recognize him until we got off of the bus. He has become a little more frail than the vibrant guy who I once new. I guess that I got a reminder that the Golden Years aren't cracked up to what they are supposed to be. "Father Time" takes a toll on all of us in different ways. This friend never chose to get married, but he gave back to the community in so many ways when he ran the Boys and Girls Club. This got me thinking how lucky that I am to have someone to grow old with even though I drive her crazy at times.

Speaking of driving her crazy, we needed to do some touch up painting / staining on the deck. I grabbed a partial container of some leftover stain.
I started touching up some spots with the wrong color stain. Linda had to correct my mistake while she was still in her night gown. We found the correct container of stain, and she had to paint over my mistake. If someone ever recorded the conversation we had during this paint fiasco, it would have been a big hit on Facebook. Don't forget that she was dealing with a guy who is color blind. I would bet that Linda was thinking at that moment the single life was looking pretty good.

Sports -- The Red Sox lost and the Yankees won their game. The Sox now have a one game lead in their division. Oh Darn!

My UNICO Golf Committee meeting went well. My friend and I finally got some numbers for shirt sizes for the golfers for our August 10 UNICO Golf Tournament. We have to turn in the sizes to Jones' Trophies so he can order the shirts which we are putting in the golfers' goodie bags. Let us hope that it is a rain free day since we have golfers teeing off in the morning and afternoon.

Well, I have to do some quiet activities like water the flowers all around the house, and read the local newspapers. I do have to eventually cook /grill up a pork loin, and thinly slice it so that it will go on a baguette (thinly sliced too) along with an interesting mustard for tonight's Tanglewood adventure. Linda also made Quinoa concoction which she saw on the food channel. Our friends are bringing a homemade Quiche. It will be a fun evening before this night is over.

Have a great Tuesday!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
