Hello on Friday

Dear friends,
Another day went as planned. Linda made it through two body maintenance procedures, and I read a good portion of the latest Dan Brown Book called "The Lost Symbol".
My Subaru had some basic maintenance done for the price of a mortgage payment. The car is purring like a kitten right now.

In a little over an hour, I will be teeing off with my senior friends. It is a bit brisk in the Berkshires right now, and we are supposed to reach the low 60's on this sunny day.
Linda will be having breakfast with her retiree friends from Pittsfield High School about the same time that my friends and I are teeing off.

Our evening activities haven't been set for the rest of the day, but we usually hook up with another couple for supper somewhere.

My Red Sox won again last night. The will be playing the Yankees for three games in New York. I think that the Red Sox will be one tired group of guys because of their late flight out of Kansas City.

Politics-- It looks like us people from Massachusetts will be getting a replacement for Ted Kennedy. Of course , he is a Democratic replacement. Many people are starting to through their hats into the ring for the actual election which takes place this coming January.
The President 's rating slipped a bit because of some comments which he made about the Governor Patterson when he visited and spoke at a community college right over the state line from Pittsfield.
At the local level, a couple of incumbent city counselors were voted out of office the other day here in Pittsfield. You know that my motto is to give the guy /gal a chance, and if he / she doesn't work out, then vote them out of office.

Observation -- I saw in the USA Today that those fees for such things a charging for each piece of luggage is starting to "fatten" airline revenues. The cheapest flights, which we have been using, have been through the airlines which charge those fees. We might use smaller luggage which would be classified as carry on for our next flight.
Don't you hate it when you see those people trying to lift their carry on luggage (Yeah right!) into to the overhead compartments. I say that if you can't lift, then you should check it.
I do like the Southwest add where they state that the bags fly free. The only problem is that Southwest doesn't fly to everywhere we want to go, and at the lowest price.

Have a great weekend.
Our Saturday will be dry in the Berkshires, but Sunday will be a washout.
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
