Hello on Friday Morning

Dear Friends,

Our Thursday went as planned. Linda did have a totally free day. I use the word totally because I left the house a little after 9 AM to visit Mom at the hospital, and returned home around 2 PM. I had an hour break before I went off to the Pasta Fund raiser for the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club. Linda spent her time knitting, and watching recorded programs.
The Pasta Fund raiser went extremely well. We had no clue of how many people were going to show up. Our kitchen crew was guessing that we would be preparing for about 100 people. To our surprise, we served about 250 (adults and children). We had to squeeze in two more tables to accommodate some large families. We started serving at 5 PM, and served the last meal around 6:45 PM.

Mom is doing okay in the hospital. They found another bladder infection which explains her listless state for the past several days. The anti-biotic regimen was going to start on Thursday. The sodium levels have improved, but they weren't where they were supposed to be. They lost my mother's hearing aid when she was moved from the room with the wacky guy to a more calm room. She does have a back up hearing aid.
The discharge date has been changed to this weekend if they solve the sodium problem, and they make progress with the infection. The doctors said that they will not keep her until the infection is gone, but just as long as the infection has dissipated somewhat.

On a happier note, Linda has another free day today. I am going off to the hospital in a little while to be with Mom for at least a half of a day.

It is a balmy 16 degrees today, and we are not getting out of the 20 degree range. I did have to use the snow blower yesterday. The winter wonderland continues for another few days with a series of snow showers and wind in the forecast.

Politics -- The newspaper, which had the racist cartoon, made an apology for doing so. The police shooting the monkey would have been okay because that is what happened, but since the Stimulus Bill was mentioned in the cartoon, it became a political issue.

What is this world coming to? A man stole a money bag ($250) from some girls scouts in Texas as they were packing up their table and cookies after a day long shift. The police are looking for the man who ran to a waiting car which was driven by a woman. The troop leader did get the license plate number of the car as she chased them down the street before they got out of sight. My guess is the robbery was for drugs. Are you allowed to carry a pistol in Texas?

Have to finish the morning routine, and head out the door.
Have a great weekend. The Curley Lad
