Hello on Friday Morning

Dear Friends,

Another day went as planned with a few social changes in Linda's agenda. The
female gender seems to really prefer "doing lunch" with their girl friends. For
me it is get some food in my stomach to get the hunger pangs to go away.
A friend wanted to treat Linda to lunch for another celebration of her
birthday. I thought a birthday was on one particular day or maybe a day before
or a day after.
Am I getting a message that I should have done a little more for her on her
birthday? I guess after 38 years of marriage I must be one of those males who
still hasn't figured it out.

The event of the day was the political fundraiser for the incumbent Mayor. They
had the pasta and chicken dinner at our Italian Lodge, the ITAM. The organizers
planned for 300 people, but 500 of us showed up. We waited too long to get in
the food line, and they ran out of baked chicken, one of my favorite foods. The
chefs in the kitchen whipped up some kind of rice concoction, but it just wasn't
the same as baked chicken.
Did we know many people at the function? Well you all know that was a silly
question. Linda and I worked the crowd from the minute we walked in the door.
Linda had to pull me out of the place as we tried to go from our table to the
car when the function ended.
She asked me if I ever stopped talking? Of course, I said "No"! If I ever ran
for political office, the people at this function are the ones that I would need
to help me get elected.

Politics -- Same old, same old! I did meet a Republican friend at the ITAM. I
jokingly said that I was passing out President Obama buttons. He said: "Your an
a__hole." I guess not all the people in Pittsfield think highly of the
President.

Our New Jersey guests did arrive about 30 minutes after we got home from the
ITAM. I am the only one up right now enjoying total peace and quiet. I will be
the first one leaving the house this morning. Even though it is a balmy 47
degrees, I am teeing off with the seniors at 8:30 AM. This might be my last
round of golf for the season unless it warms up a bit.
Our male guest is teeing off at the Country Club of Pittsfield around 10:30 AM
with a bunch of wedding guests. I was invited to play, but I am going to spend
the $100 or so dollars at a Casino when we visit our grandchild in Kansas.
Some of the wedding party golfers have never played at the Country Club of
Pittsfield. I do hope that they carry some extra balls in their bag. I can hear
some of them complaining already, and they haven't even teed off yet!

Sports -- I went to bed a happy man with respect to my Red Sox. They put the
regulars back in, and finally broke their losing streak.
The Boston Bruins Hockey Team had their home opener. They lost by a score of 4
to 1. Just before the season started, they traded a player who was one of their
leading goal scorers. I think that they might have missed him last night.

Social Calendar -- Linda has to do a little hemming on the dress that she is
wearing to the wedding on Saturday. I will be taking my usual nap after golf. We
might just chill this evening. We did get invited to a recital at Williams
College, but I think that I had enough "Culture" for a while.

Have a great weekend!
Enjoy the fall like temperatures if you live in the Berkshires.
I feel bad that rain is the forecast for the Saturday wedding. At least, The
temperatures are supposed to be warmer than the past few days.

Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
