Hello on Friday Morning

Dear Friends,

I am the only one up right now, but I can hear Isabelle coughing which means
she will be up soon. She has a two week old cough. The doctors think that it
could be a cold, and allergy combination. Whatever she has, has not slowed her
down at all.
The grandpa / grandchild issue still continues, but it is getting better.

Sports -- I did stay up and watch the Red Sox lose their first playoff game. A
three run homer by their opponents, and no offense made for a happy day for the
Los Angeles Angels.

Politics -- Can you believe that our President was awarded an unexpected Nobel
Peace Prize. I must not be the only person who thinks he has the United States
heading in a good direction.
Do you think that the terrorists submitted his name as a potential candidate?
Can you imagine what the Republican talking heads will be saying about this
Peace Prize during their radio and television programs today?

I see that our military leaders convinced the President to send more troops to
Afghanistan. This does go against his campaign promises to get our troops out of
the world wide conflicts.

National News -- The gun toting mom, who made national news because she carried
her holstered and visible hand gun to her kids' soccer games, finally used her
gun. The police think that her and her husband used the hand gun in a murder
suicide. The couple was having some marital problems, and was talking about a
separation. The tragedy is that their three children are now without a mother or
father.

Observation -- As we watch our son and his wife raise Isabelle, I am so
convinced that they are doing such a great job of child rearing. I can really
see the love being passed on just like we observed with our other son and his
wife in East Boston with their two month old child. I think that it really takes
two people to raise a child.
I don't know how the single Moms can do it by themselves. We do know some great
single parents, who are doing such a wonderful job raising their children, but
has to be exhausting.
The mom deals with day care, a job, and then has no one to help them when she
comes home from work.
Single moms who do raise a well balanced child deserve a medal of honor!

I don't know what is on our social agenda for today.
The Irish Festival doesn't start until 5 PM tonight.
I think that we will go there on Saturday during the day.

Have a great weekend!
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
