Hello on Tuesday

Dear Friends,

It was a long but fun day at Saratoga. The bus arrived back in Pittsfield at 8:30 PM. Some of our group decided to give up with betting on the horses, and try their luck at the slot machine Casino located on the back side of the track. If we didn't have to pick up these people, we would have been home much earlier.

Now the question is how did Linda and I do at betting on the horses? Let me set you the scenario. We started the day with a budget of $100 per person. Going into the last race, I was down $50. Linda had won a triple for $140, so she was much better off than I was. Every race throughout the day had long shots which never managed to come in first. Well, the drought ended with the last race of the day. The long shot went off at 45 to 1. Unknowingly, we each put a $2 bet to win on the long shot. The long shot won the race. That two dollar bet paid $90. Doing the mathematics, Linda came home with $230, and I came home with $140. So this means that we had fun all day long, and we came home with more money than we started with. I would say that we had a pretty successful day.

Linda goes back to the track on Wednesday with her Pittsfield High School Red Hat group. I hope that she doesn't give back her winnings from Monday's adventure.

Observation -- The bathrooms at the race track have an attendant who is there throughout the 10 races. He is expecting a tip when you use the facilities, and when he hands you a paper towel as you exit the bathroom. I was wondering how much is the base pay of the attendant, and what he makes in tips? My other thought was that I don't think that I could stay in a bathroom from when the gates open at 11 AM until the last race ends after 6 PM. At least the guy wouldn't need to have a bathroom break during his daily work since he is right there in the bathroom.

Sports -- The Red Sox and Yankees were idle.

Political news -- It was nice to not think about what is going on nationally as well as throughout the world.

Social Calendar -- The Tuesday Mah Jongg group is at our house today. I am going to do a little track walking before I bake some soda breads for personal consumption, and for bringing some to Dad in Lee, and Mom at the nursing home.
I have many home projects which need my attention too.

Have a super Tuesday.
We are in for another great day weather wise.
Talk to you soon. The Curley Lad
